Good, Bad and Ugly.

Good News: I found a professor to chair my defense.
Bad News: He really didn't want to do it, but I had him on the phone and it is really hard to say no to someone when you hear the desperation in their voice.
Good News: I have started fretting about more important things like my defense talk.

Good News: I got a honorable mention award from the Particle Accelerator Conference for my paper. They even spelled my name correctly, big kudos!
Bad News: I was catching my plane when they gave out the awards, so they had to mail it to me. Sadly, the glass in the frame broke en route.

Ugly News: Some unknown, but rather venomous, animal bit me in my sleep (no, not Sam). So now I have this unfortunate swelling just at my collarbone, which has elicited the following response more than once: "Ewww, what's that?!" To add insult to injury, it itches and I am not one known for restraint.
