Glory.
I think the cover of PRL should debunk any theories that plasma wake field acceleration is just for crack-pots.
I promise to talk more about it, but not when typing from an internet cafe in Laos where the computer for some reason keeps switching the text to Hebrew. Sקק 'ישא I צקשמ?
Much more "physics" talk when I am back. Don't worry, I return in less than a week and there won't be anymore travel blog for a while.
Congratulations on the cover! Now y'all come on back to the warm bosom of Southern California soon! -cvj

Congrats!!! If you don't mind me asking, how do you read the diagrams? Are the "particles in the back of the bunch [accelerated] by more than 2.7 GeV" that tiny red speck at the very top of the "after" spectrum?

You also got props in Nature! Congratulations!

I'm guessing the link won't work from a net cafe though...

BTW, thought I should mention after several weeks of waiting for "Harry" I gave up, cancelled my Amazon order and borrowed it from one of the PhD students here. They were very happy to lend it as it would mean a lifting of my threat of immediate and severely disproportionate violence against anyone who mentioned anything from the book anywhere within 5kms of my office...
Wow, cool ending...
