Seattle Is a Cool Place To Live
Speaking of things I can and can't say, our hiring process is in a funny limbo at the moment. The dean has said "go for it, but only if you can come up with the $$". We are going after two people -- and they both know about it now. So, they know we want to make them an offer, but they don't have a peice of paper yet (all important in this bussiness). So, we are offiically after these two, but at the same time, we aren't quite there yet.
So... the university has basically put all of its cards on the table, and now these two candidates have the most leverage they will probably ever have in their careers (unless they try to move later in life). While that is going on, we have to make sure they really like the university. Really like it. :-) This is, potentially, a 20-30 year decision they are going to make. Move to Seattle from other parts of the country...
So, I thought I'd start a small series. Seattle is a very cool place to live. Check this out. It isn't even March, and look at that picture. That is a tree in full blume, in afternoon light (coming from the water, which isn't shown, and off to the right). I bet you don't see that on the east coast or the midwest right now (didn't some of those places just get snow? Hmmm??).
