I was happier still about the fact that the recent administrative elections (to elect governors of 14 regions) were a devastating blow to Berlusconi's government and majority, ending 2/12 in favor of the center-left opposition (was 8/6 since 2000).
As Sandra notes, they are too enamoured with power to let go easily. They will, unfortunately for our country, go on adrift, half-sunk, until next may, when political elections are due anyway. Their political agenda will have to try and answer the concerns raised by the lost consensus, particularly the problems of low income households (the majority in Italy nowadays!).
He is going to propose a new government.... so he is not really gone.... unfortunately...
