Bar of Tragedy
Robert (who just got back from Barcelona -- check out the pictures), Stuart and wen to the Red Lion last night. It was a lot of fun. Stuart, Scottish, has been here for about 6 months and knows quite a few people -- who we ran into over the night. But the fun was not worth the pain this morning:
- The first to go was my wedding ring! Stuart spilled a pint of beer on me, and my ring went flying when I was trying to brush off the beer. We were on the deck, which has a raised wooden floor with 1/4 gaps between the planks. We suspect the ring is down there somewhere.
- Next to go was Stuart's wallet. Whomever got it was a master: they pulled it from inside his bag, which was sitting next to us on a table we had to our selves! He has, at least, access to his French bank account still, but he has lost his building access card for work and, more importantly, his coffee card.
- Later in the night I discovered my US credit card is also gone. Since everything else in that pocket was there, I suspect I dropped it while getting money out at some point.
Needless to say, hangovers vanquished, we will be returning to the Bar Of Tragedy to try and recover whatever the nice people of Marseille happened to leave behind. :)
too bad about the ring - especially on our first anniversary!

I sent her a text message about 10 minutes after it happened, and her reply was "Bad Husband!" ;-) Timing was perfect. We were married one year less a day before I lost that ring!

Hi Gordon,
This is fantastic. What kept you from adjusting the ring to your finger, or you've been waiting to get fat enough so it fits tight naturally?
(there is a also a trick to carry a ring on the middle finger, I do not know if it insulting in your part of the world though)
take care

Hey Jealous. I thought it was adjusted. But the fit wasn't amazingly tight. And the beer helped it slide off, I guess.
We went back and searched and didn't find anything. No wallet, no ring, and no credit card.
Quite a night!
